NJCU Men’s Volleyball Standout Marcus Pardasie Named AVCA Division III Player of the Week

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | Â鶹ÒùÔº (NJCU) sophomore men’s volleyball student-athlete Marcus Pardasie, an outside hitter from Paramus, N.J. and Cresskill High School graduate, has become the sixth player in school history to be named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Player of the Week. It is the second consecutive year and third time since 2022 a member of the NJCU men’s volleyball program has been honored with this national recognition.

On the week, Pardasie accumulated 68 kills, eight assists, nine service aces, 36 digs, and seven blocks. The Gothic Knights finished 3-1 during the week. Pardasie was also named Â鶹ÒùÔº Athletic Conference and Skyline Player of the Week.

Pardasie, who earned the award on March 11 for the first time in his career, was honored after he tallied a career-high 30 kills in a 3-1 loss to St. Joseph's University-Long Island. Pardasie's 30 kills are the seventh time in school history a player has reached the 30-kill plateau and are the most kills in a match since former all-time great Kevin Rodgers `10 — the former head coach of the program and current head women’s volleyball coach at William Paterson University — tied the program record with 36 in 2009.

Pardasie also had the second most kills in a match that lasted four sets in school history and the most kills in a four-set match during the rally-scoring era.

He followed that up with another double-double, recording 24 kills and 15 digs in a 3-1 victory over Purchase College.

"Marcus had to step up big this past week," said head coach `07. "We are currently missing a handful of starters due to injury and to go into a week where we had four conference matches was not an easy task. I'm glad he was recognized for the effort he put in to make it so our team did not skip a beat."

All-Time NJCU National Player of the Week honorees include:

  • Damon LaSalle (Feb. 20, 2006)
  • Sheldon Coure (March 4, 2014)
  • Jalen Sorrell (Feb. 17, 2015)
