JERSEY CITY, N.J. | (NJCU) President will make his second appearance on ABC-7 Eyewitness News in New York when he is the guest of host , a Peabody Award and Edward R. Murrow Award-winning television reporter, on the program ''. The program will air on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 11:30 a.m.
President Acebo originally appeared on the program in April 2023 and returns to provide the community with an update on NJCU's progress over the past two and a half years. As only the third Latino president of a four-year college or university in Âé¶¹ÒùÔº's history, President Acebo joins the program during Hispanic Heritage Month to discuss NJCU's distinction as the oldest Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in the state, serving a student population that is 49% Hispanic.
During the interview, President Acebo will explain the historic merger with Kean University and what it means for students and the Jersey City community. He will also discuss the current state of higher education and the challenges facing public universities, while highlighting NJCU's deep partnerships within the Hispanic community and with organizations throughout the region. The conversation will include his own unconventional journey to becoming university president and reflections on how NJCU continues to fulfill its mission as a community-anchored institution dedicated to student success and upward mobility.
