Research Interests
Dr. Jung is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Âé¶¹ÒùÔº. He is an Environmental Scientist specializing in Environmental Geochemistry and Hydrology. Dr. Jung earned his Ph.D. from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in 2009. From 2009 to 2014, Dr. Jung worked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a postdoctoral research associate. He has conducted research for various environmental projects funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the Department of Energy. His research topics include groundwater and soil contamination, geologic carbon sequestration, hydraulic fracturing, nanogeochemistry and environmental remediation. His current research at NJCU focuses on biogeochemical cycling of nutrients and heavy metals in urban estuaries. Dr. Jung has published about 30 research papers in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Jung has taught many environmental science courses including Environmental Science for All, Water Explorer, and Hydrology. He has been a research advisor for more than 10 undergraduate and high school students for summer research internships.
